Tony The Tiger For Mayor

Last week it was reported on Wicked Local news that "Tony The Tiger" was going to save the town exmbarrassment. Yes, that's correct. It seems that the Governor cut back the $750,000 (big surprise)the town was hoping to get to, ah, well, clean graffitti or something lame like that, and the amount was reduced to $87,500 (ouch). That amount will probably pay to put new hinges on the gate. Anyway, in her great wisdom, it seems Mayor Sue Kay is trying to get everyone on board to acquire an additional $15,000 from Kellogg's Frosted Flakes (click on "Tony" above) by voting for Legion Field on the Kellogg's web site.

I knew I should have written "Tony The Tiger" in when I voted for Mayor. So I guess I should put a positive spin on, and say that at least Tony wants to make a ballfield out of Legion rather than plant trees for old people to take walks. The down side is that I couldn't figure out how to place my vote.

So let's review the town embarrassment.

a) We started out with a wonderful well respected peice of property that the people of Weymouth used for 80 years as a sports complex. b) We voted not to spend 7 million dollars to change it into a better sports complex.c) The old mayor (Madden) got pissed and dumped load of crap on it. d) We can't get a lousy $750,000 from the State because now we're in a recession.e) We're reduced to a paltry maybe $100,000 to do what?

Someone suggested to me that we should make a town garden there. What! A town garden? And plant like, tomatoes? Give me a break.

Yes, by the way, my sister-in-law told me last week that her son's lacrosse league is looking for a field to play on because they can't play up at the Air Base anymore.
